Karate Test

Well, Rionn got to take his first official full karate test.  Since he advanced out of the little ninjas, he gets to go to karate.  With the big kids.  And occasional adult.  Anyways, Thursday he tested for his yellow belt.  And he got it.  He's one proud kiddo and I'm sure he'll be telling everyone when school starts.

Never A Dull Moment

Cole and I bought a house close to the freeway since he's a commuter.  However, we are zoned agriculture.  So we could, in theory, have a farm on our 1 acre lot.  But instead, we have 2 bassets and a chirussel.  And probably about a million ants, some sun spider and quite a bit of black widows.  But the last few weeks I've noticed that bunnies and squirrels have made some homes too.  So today was one of our busy days.  I'm up at 5: exercising, getting ready for work, making 3 lunches and 3 sets of water bottles.  Then off to work at 7.  Cole and Rionn leave about 7:45.  I leave work at 3:25.  Pick up Rionn from day camp at 3:45 and we're home just for the amount of time it takes Rionn to change for karate.  We arrive for karate at 4:20 and done by 5.  Home by 5:30 and I start making dinner.  Clean/vacuum a couple rooms.  Water the trees and walk.  Then inside to do dishes and feed the dogs.  Get Rionn ready for bed and dinner ready for Cole.  And then it's time for bed.  Now, I prefer that on these types of days, that no wrench is thrown in my delicate schedule.

However, today(because I was tired from the moment I woke up) was not going to be a smooth going day.  And we rushed everywhere today.  But then Annie threw in the biggest wrench.  I was starting one of the water faucets and out popped a bunny.  And then Scooby caught it.  Luckily he just shocked it a little and maybe hurt a leg.  So I had Rionn go inside a get a box for it while I held the 15 lb killer.  However, it wasn't him that I needed to worry about.  I was Annie.  As soon as Rionn sat down the box the bunny tried to head for the hills.  And Annie chased it down and ate it.  Fur, bones and all.  And not without some sort of drama.  Rionn and I were chasing her around a tree.

So after I consoled a sad kid who thought he was getting a pet bunny, it dawned on me that neighbors were outside grilling.  I'm sure we gave them a great dinner show to go along with their dinner.  But Rionn accepted my circle of life speech and well, then I took him to Sonic to get him a sympathy slushie.  And we ended our evening in laughter.  I love to hear him laugh.  So it made my day.  No matter how dull or exciting it was.
