The weather here went from cold to beautiful in just a couple days. I mean, we went from several layers of clothing to jeans and t-shirts. And the sky has been so blue and clear. Anyways, it's been nice enough that Rionn got to use the new bike that Santa brought him. It seemed that right after Christmas it was either raining or snowing. So we are officially back to bike riding until we get that last winter cold snap that always seems to creep up. And the dogs are loving it too. So here's Rionn on his new bike.

Back to the Grind
So we are halfway through our second week being back to normal. Work, school, karate, home. And surprisingly it was easier to get back into the swing. Although Monday's holiday threw me a bit. We are overly routined here. So Monday, well I thought it was any Monday. I got up and made coffee, ate breakfast, started a load of laundry, got some paperwork out of the way, and then got an invitation to go to Chuck E Cheese for lunch. So I asked about taking the kids out of school and was then told that it was Martin Luther King, Jr. day. No school. So I went in a talked to Cole and he said I know, that's why I hadn't woken up Rionn yet. So I called into work and told them I wouldn't be there. And we spent a great relaxing day together. Of course, this morning didn't go as smoothly as yesterdays. But that's ok, we are going back to normal.

Still Working
As many of you know, I was laid off about 3 weeks before Christmas. Of course I was also told that I would work 2 weeks from the time they told me that I no longer had a job. And here I sit, 5 weeks later, still working. I guess it's a good thing. But I also long to be at home. Just that job, with a kiddo is enough work by itself. Anyways, I'm trying to get my quilting business up and running and I figured I'd have all the time in the world. Maybe in March. I was told I still have my job till the end of February so we'll see.

Mad Scientists
Rionn came home from school is a big packet of homework for this week. Then I noticed that half the packet was science fair information. Rionn goes to a school of science, math, and technology. So I wasn't surprised that he was given information about the science fair. But I wasn't expecting that it was a mandatory thing. So Rionn and I, mostly Rionn, will be doing a science fair project. On ice. Which ice holders freeze faster. I'm not afraid that he can do it. I'm afraid of the frustration and angst that comes with all the writing. He loves school, hates writing. Plus, Cole and I make him do most of his projects that have to be done. Just like the ginger bread house competition. Hopefully we'll make it through this next month. And maybe, just maybe, the kindergarteners will judged in their own class category. Time will tell, meanwhile, we have a just over a couple weeks to get this done.

Birthday Bash
Yesterday was Rionn's birthday party. We had hot dogs galore. Then we opened presents. Ate cupcakes. Went skating. Then went to Chuck E. Cheese. Rionn definitaly made out. We were kinda worried that nobody would show up. But if you've seen my dining room table, you'll know how many gifts he got. He got 3/4 of our table full of gifts. He had a blast. And he got out on the skating rink and skated like nobody's business.

I Didn't Get A White Christmas
But apparently 2011 is starting of white. Sunday afternoon, it started snowing around 1 and it hasn't stopped since. Rionn and I are ecstatic about it. Cole, well, he doesn't like the cold and it's hard for him to walk in snow and ice. The dogs don't like it either. They've found a place on or under various blankets and people and don't move until either you or the blanket does. And it's still coming down. Luckily Cole doesn't have to work today or tomorrow. He switched days with another coworker because he knew he would have a tough time making it home and if it didn't stop he wouldn't be able to make it back down either.
